Colin Barnes is responsible for deal sourcing and management of GRC's Bermuda Office.
Colin has established a solid reputation in the global insurance and claims arena as a risk management pioneer and leader during his more than 25 years of achievement in corporate risk management and board member service with various commercial and mutual insurance companies. In 1977, following three years of underwriting and claims experience in the London insurance market with the Lombard Insurance Company, he joined Phillips Petroleum Company's Europe-Africa risk management division in London. There, he specialized in the acquisition and administration of offshore construction insurance and claims settlement. Colin subsequently spent 20 years at Phillips' U.S.A. headquarters for worldwide operations where he held a variety of risk management and insurance positions, including that of risk manager for eight years.
Colin has served on the ACE Bermuda Advisory Committee as well as on the executive committees and boards of Oil Insurance Limited, Oil Casualty Insurance Limited, Corporate Officers and Directors Assurance (CODA) and TOPS Insurance Limited. A native of England, Colin was educated in England at Ratcliff College. He attended the University of Nairobi, Kenya, and also qualified for the ACII diploma with the Chartered Insurance Institute in London in 1979, specializing in marine insurance and claims.
